Green Smoothie: Yummy Meal or Snack 


Warmer weather is the perfect time for a green smoothie, especially if it contains enough protein for a complete meal. 


This cucumber, mango, and banana smoothie is both super refreshing and nutritious. 


Health Benefits: 


30 grams of protein– As we get older, our protein needs increase. Whey protein contains lots of branch chain amino acids to help maintain lean muscle mass. A vegetarian protein powder would work as well. 

700+ mg of calcium – supports healthy bones, from growing bones to aging bones.

11 grams of fiber– important for digestion, colon health, diabetes & cancer prevention, as well as weight management 


3 mg of iron– critical for healthy red blood cells 


Cinnamon – helps lower blood sugar and is loaded with antioxidants 


Ingredients:


½ frozen banana 

1 cup almond milk

½ cup frozen mango 

½ cup fresh spinach 

¼ of a cucumber 

2 tablespoons almond butter 

1 scoop vanilla whey protein 

Cinnamon

Pinch of sea salt (optional)

A squeeze of lemon or lime (optional)
